Although the Reserve Bank has hosed down speculation that it will cut interest rates, they are still an outside possibility they will be made. Westpac economists say, in their weekly commentary, that their central expectation is a long pause in this tightening cycle. However the economy is being buffeted by a range of forces that could affect domestic activity.
